Philippine Catholic Schools Hold 14-day Prayer for Peace

On May 23rd, an Islamic State group, the Maute group, invaded a southern city in the Philippines called Marawi. As the Maute group still holds part of the city, Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines are holding a 14-day prayer for peace. The association consists of 1,425 Catholic educational institutions. The group hopes this communal action brings hope back to civilians as they rebuild their lives.

07/18/2017 The Philippines (UCA News) – The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines launched on July 17 a 14-day prayer for peace for the besieged city of Marawi.

Fighting between government security forces and terrorist gunmen has raged in the southern city since May 23.

The association of the country’s 1,425 Catholic educational institutions said the aim of the prayer activity is to encourage their members to help rebuild Marawi.

“This communal action is intended to touch the hearts of the Catholic educational community to assist in the rebuilding of the city,” said the group.
