ICC Note:

Many of the Christian families fleeing Arish are congregating in the Egyptian city of Ismailia. With very few personal belongings and little preparations, these families arrive in the city with no certainty of shelter. As the need grows, churches in the area are working to provide fully furnished apartments to these families so that they can begin to start their lives over. 48 apartments are reported to have already been provided with around 200 more said to be nearly ready.

3/15/2017 Egypt (Egypt Independent) -Some 48 families have received apartments in Mostaqbal City, Ismailia governorate, said Father Youssef Shoukry, the pastor of Saint Bishoy Coptic Orthodox Church in Ismailia, who is in charge of the welfare of Coptic Christian families that fled systematic attacks by terrorists in al-Arish, North Sinai.

The Social Solidarity Ministry and the relevant ministries in Ismailia provided these fully-furnished apartments. Any families residing in camps were a priority, Shoukry added.

In a statement on Saturday, Shoukry said 120 more apartments will be given to displaced families over the next few days.

Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali said 72 other apartments will be delivered within a week, after they have been completely furnished.
