Boko Haram attack near Christian town of Chibok
ICC Note: Boko Haram has carried out another attack near the Christian town of Chibok. The Islamic radicals have targeted Chibok several times in the past because of the Christian majority of residents that live there. In 2014, they kidnapped over 234 girls, who were forced to convert to Islam and marry some of their abductors. Some of the girls have been able to escape and reunited with their families, but they all have been scarred for life.
02/15/2017, Nigeria (Sahara Reporters) – Fleeing Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) fighters on Monday invaded Mifa community in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, killing an Islamic scholar and breaking the hands of an unnamed boy.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to The Nation, the incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. when about 30 Boko Haram terrorists entered the village and began shooting indiscriminately.
However, soldiers stationed in Chibok were quickly drafted and were able to repel the attack, killing one of the terrorists.
Mifa community is about two kilometres from Chibok and is the latest village to be attacked by Boko Haram.
