China is installing cameras inside churches

Chinese officials in Zheijiang Provice have been cracking down on churches in their region. Church members report increased oversight over their sermons and church attendance. The government has also reportedly installed cameras in almost every state run church. China has been cracking down on churches outside the state run Three-Self-Patriotic-Movement church but has recently begun cracking down on the state run church as well in some areas.
1/21/2017 China (China Aid) – The government in China’s coastal Zhejiang province is cracking down on state-run churches by increasing surveillance on the content of their sermons, on the number of church members, and other activities.
As part of this endeavor, the government installed cameras in almost every official church and the local united work front department and public security bureau planted an official minder in Xikou Jesus Church. From these sources, officials are able to gain information the number people attending each church, the content of the sermons, and any other religious events.
