Some state-controlled churches are experiencing revival in China
ICC Note:
China has long done its best to stamp out or suppress Christianity. The most recent crackdown has consisted of authorities attempting to shut down churches or coerce them into joining the state-controlled church, titled the Three Self Patriotic Movement. Now, what may be their worst nightmare seems to be coming true. Chinese people are reporting that state controlled churches are experiencing a move of God. An evangelist told CBN news, “Dramatic changes are happening…God is moving in a powerful way inside the Three-Self Churches.” Members are reporting that although every sermon used to be vetted by government authorities, they are sometimes allowed to preach without submitting their sermons to the government first. Churches are able to talk about the power of God and some are experiencing what some are calling a revival. More people are coming to the churches and not because of government coercion. However, this can not be said for all of the state-run churches. While God may be moving in some of the Three-Self churches, many of the churches remain under strict control of the government and are tools for teaching Beijing’s principles rather than the Gospel.

You might think these images come from a charismatic service in the United States. But they’re not. This is communist, and officially still atheist China.
