ICC Note: Muslim Seleka rebels killed at least 26 Christian villagers in Ndomete, Central African Republic, this past weekend. These rebels have been responsible for the several attacks against Christian villages and the murder of many supporters of former president Francois Bozize, during and after Michel Djotodia’s presidency.  Seleka rebels have carried out the majority of their attacks against Christians in the country, where they have killed, murdered, and violated the human rights of many of them. However, Christian militias have been formed to fight and protect themselves against the atrocities and the perpetual threat of the Muslim Seleka rebels.

9/19/2016, CAR (Ventures Africa) – On Saturday, a renewed episode of religious crisis took place in Ndomete, Central African Republic (CAR). Muslim Seleka fighters were responsible for the violence that led to the death of 26 people.

Albert Mokpeme, the spokesman to the Presidency, called it a ‘massacre’. He said that the Seleka rebels went from door to door to kill the villagers, who were mainly non-Muslims.

“It was a massacre. There were 26 victims. The Seleka (rebels) went door to door … The village chief was among the victims,” he said.
