Woman Mourns Murder of her Husband, Four Children by Fulani Herdsmen
ICC Note: 41-year old Joy Musa lost her husband and four of her six children in 2013 in a Fulani herdsmen attack. The Fulani came at night and attacked the village where Joy and her family lived, forcing them to flee for their lives. Most of them did not escape however, and were murdered by the attackers. Joy survived the attack with gunshot wounds. Now, three years later, Joy is still suffering from that day she lost her husband and children. Her injury requires costly surgeries, and she has little money. There are many others like Joy in Nigeria who have lost loved ones to Fulani attacks and are suffering because of it, grieving and unable to help themselves. The Fulani continue to carry out their violent attacks on innocent populations, particularly Christians, killing people and destroying homes and farms with little reaction from Nigerian authorities.
