ICC Note: After battling internal injuries for three years, Cecilia, a victim of the 2013 All Saints Church attack in Peshawar, Pakistan, succumbed to her injuries on July 13. Despite the medical attention that she received following the attack, Cecilia still had remnants of bomb fragments in her body that festered and eventually turned into cancer. The All Saint Church bombing was one of the deadliest terror attacks in Pakistan’s history, killing more than 100 Christians and injuring scores more. Sadly, in Pakistan, most Christians viewed at the bottom of society, forcing them to live in poverty. Thus, many of the bombing survivors continue to live in pain and struggle, unable to afford the expensive medical care that they need.

7/15/2016 Pakistan (The Express Tribune) – For almost three years, 42-year-old nurse Cecilia fought through the wounds sustained in the All Saints Church bomb blasts in 2013. However, on Wednesday morning, she succumbed to internal injuries that had, over time, taken the shape of cancer.

With tearstained eyes, her spouse Falaksher told The Express Tribune his wife was not the only one his community lost to the church attack. “We are still losing loved ones [after the attack].”
