Christian and Muslim experts: Dhaka terrorists have been brainwashed
ICC Note: In light of the recent attack on the Holey Artisan Bakery, Christian and Muslim experts are now examining the social causes to explain the increase of young people joining jihadist groups. They believe that the lack of parental attention has put Bangladeshi youths at risk for falling under the influence of jihad preachers. The attack on Holey Artisan Bakery is only a part of the increasing violence in Bangladesh at the hands of Islamic extremists. For the last three years, terrorists have targeted secular bloggers, gay rights activists, and religious minorities. Members of the Christian community now live in fear, wondering if they will be targeted next.

About last Friday’s violent incident, Christian and Muslim experts said that in a society increasingly devoted to economic success, parents spend a lot of time away from home.
The lack of adequate parental attention has the unexpected consequence that many young people – even those from rich families who have no material concerns and difficulties – can be enticed by some famous jihad preachers.
