ICC Note: A bomb blast in suburban Mogadishu, Somalia, has killed 18 people riding a minibus Thursday, according to reports. The remote detonation killed all who were on board as the bus passed through Lafole town. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but it is suspected that the bomb was planted there by Somalian Islamist terrorist group Al-Shabaab, who have carried out frequent similar attacks on civilians and security forces alike in Somalia and eastern Kenya. The terrorist group has gained notoriety for frequently targeting Christian populations for murder, sometimes separating believers from Muslims for execution.

06/30/2016, Somalia (International Business Times) – At least 18 civilians were killed when a roadside bomb went off on Thursday in Somalia’s Lafole town, southwest of the capital, blowing up a packed mini-bus that was passing by, police said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. The Al-Shabaab militants have frequently launched attacks against security forces and civilians around the country in the past. The group wants to topple the Western-backed government.
