Nigeria: Government to Repatriate 60,000 Nigerian Refugees From Cameroon
ICC Note: The Nigerian government wants to repatriate some 60,000 Nigerian refugees from a camp in Cameroon where they have escaped the Boko Haram insurgency. With the Islamist militant terror group still raging a deadly guerrilla war in northeast Nigeria across the border region with Niger, Chad, and Cameroon, questions remain as to the safety and feasibility of such a proposal. Boko Haram represents the primary threat to the persecuted Christian Church in northern Nigeria, carrying a bloody history of targeting believers for murder, rape, kidnapping, and other atrocities. Recently, the terrorists have broadened their scope of destruction to the general population as they become pushed further into unconventional combat tactics such as using suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

3/1/16 Maroua, Cameroon (AllAfrica) – The Federal Government has expressed commitment to repatriating over 60, 000 insurgency-displaced Nigerians who are presently taking refuge at the Minawao camp, Maruoa in the far North Region of Cameroun.
This came on a day a senior Nigerian lawyer, Femi Falana, petitioned the Nigerian Army authorities, demanding the release of Enitan Ransome-Kuti, the former Commander of the Multi-National Joint Task Force, who was convicted by a military court martial and sentenced to six months imprisonment.
