Christian-Muslim Brawl With Machetes and Grenades Leaves 24 Dead, 100 Injured
ICC Note: The ongoing conflict in the Central African Republic is most fundamentally a political one. While militias on both sides of the conflict continue to commit atrocities, often pitting religious sects against each other, in reality, the majority-Christian anti-Balaka and majority-Muslim Seleka remain religiously mixed. The conflict in the CAR is a political one where people wielding weapons are using religious identity to scapegoat others in order to justify their violent acts. In the midst of it all, peaceful Christian and peaceful Muslim communities are often attacked, such as happened this past weekend, resulting in 24 deaths.

09/29/2015 Central African Republic (Christian Post) – Major sectarian violence between Christians and Muslims in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, has left at least 24 people dead and over 100 wounded over the weekend.
“The events of [Saturday] and [Sunday] are very serious. We count many crimes against property and persons,” Security Minister Dominique Said Paguindji said in an interview, according to Foreign Policy. “We will deal with this situation diplomatically to avoid civilian casualties that would add to the death toll.”
