2/20/2012 Iran (Mohabat News) – Prison authorities have transferred a Christian convert to the central prison of Esfahan for increased pressure and surveillance. No official explanation was provided for this transfer. This Christian prisoner has been held in prison for his Christian faith since last year.
According to report received by Iranian Christian news agency, Mohabat News, Noorollah Qabitizade, one of the Christian converts in prison, was transferred on February 12, 2012 to Dastgerd prison of Esfahan.
Mr. Qabitizade had been held in the prison of Ahwaz for over a year on charges of Christian activity. The report indicates that the purpose behind his transfer to Dastgerd prison of Esfahan is to be subjected to more severe pressure and greater restrictions. He is currently being held in ward 2 of that prison, the report states.
Although the official reason behind this transfer is not clear as yet, knowledgeable sources told Mohabat News that Mr. Qabitizade’s transfer was a result of his activities in prayer and sharing his faith with other inmates.
