Thank you to everyone who signed this petition before June 10. Those signatures will be personally delivered to the Afghan Ambassador to the US in late June. However, we have decided to extend the petition deadline. All signatures collected by September 1 will be hand delivered during another meeting with the Afghan Ambassador in mid-September. Below is an e-mail Petition to the President of Afghanistan to include religious freedom for all people in Afghanistan in the new Afghan constitution. Names entered in the form will be added to the ICC Christian Persecution Advocacy Database. An additional copy will go to your e-mail address. Thank you! If you prefer, we also have a printer-friendly Religious Freedom Petition to the President of Afghanistan. Collect the signatures, and mail to International Christian Concern (ICC). ICC will present the petitions to the Afghan Ambassador to the United States on your behalf. Click here to see the printable Religious Freedom Petition form.

Religious Freedom Petition to
President Hamid Karzai, President of
Afghanistan
(to be Presented to the Honorable Ishq Shahryar, Afghan Ambassador
to the United States)
Dear President Karzai,
We, the undersigned, do hereby congratulate you on restoring freedom to the people of Afghanistan. You have stood firmly for basic human dignity and liberties. As Christians we salute your leadership and pray for you and your government.
Mr. President, we understand that your government is in the process of writing a new constitution for Afghanistan. We respectfully request that a provision be included that will ensure religious freedom for all citizens of Afghanistan. Under the existing constitution only certain religious groups are specifically offered protection under the law. However, the rights of all with religious convictions should be protected under the new constitution.
There are many expatriate Afghan Christians in Europe and the United States who would like to return to their native land. Without a provision to protect their religious freedom, they feel hesitant about doing so. Therefore, we urge you to make religious freedom a universal right for all citizens of Afghanistan.
Sincerely Yours,
|
