Nigeria: Troops Kill Boko Haram Kingpin, 18 Militants, Rescue 67

ICC Note: The Nigerian military has scored another success in the fight against Boko Haram. Nigerian media report that government troops have killed 19 fighters, including one top commander and have rescued dozens of captives. Boko Haram has become the most notorious threat to the persecuted Church in Nigeria waging a seven-year war in the country’s north, subjecting primarily Christians to targeting, church destruction, murder, abduction, and rape. Recently, since the military began to tally victories against Boko Haram, pushing them into unconventional guerrilla-style warfare, the militant Islamist terror group has broadened their path of destruction to include fellow Muslims whom they consider to be illegitimate followers of Allah and they have employed suicide bombing.

3/22/16 Borno State, Nigeria (AllAfrica) – The Nigerian Army said yesterday that troops of the 22 Brigade Garrison carried out a clearing operation at the Dalore camp in Borno State on Sunday and killed 19 Boko Haram militants including the Ameer of Dalore.
